About Expired Domains
How the list is built, how availability is verified, and what happens when you click through to register.
What is an expired domain?
An expired domain is a name whose owner did not renew it, so the registry has released it back to the public. There is no previous owner to negotiate with and no auction: you register it at a registrar for the normal price of a new domain. Every name on this page has been checked against the registry, and the status pill tells you whether it is available now or still counting down to its delete date.
Are expired domains safe to buy?
Usually, but check the name’s past before you register it. A name that was used for spam or for a site that got penalised carries that history with it, and nothing on this page tells you what was there before — we list registry facts, not reputation scores. Run the name through our DNS & WHOIS lookup, search for it, and look it up in a web archive. Short, clean names with no odd history are the safe end of the list.
How do you know a domain is actually available?
We ask the registry. Scrapers collect candidate names, then a separate checker queries each one over WHOIS or RDAP, and only names the registry confirms as free are listed. The Checked column on every row shows how long ago that answer came back. It is the registry’s answer rather than an estimate from a cached list — the verifying is the point of this site.
How often is the list updated?
New names hourly, re-checks every two hours. The scrapers run once an hour and add expired and dropping names as they find them; the verification job runs every second hour and re-asks the registry about names already on the list. The Verified today counter at the top of the page is the number of rows that got a fresh registry answer today.
What happens when I click Register?
You get a list of registrars, and the name is re-checked at that moment. The button opens a panel of registrars with the domain filled in — you register and pay there, because this site does not sell domains and does not hold one for you. In the background we ask the registry one more time, and if the name has been taken since the last check, the row disappears instead of sending you to a dead end.
Why was the domain already taken when I clicked through?
Because somebody registered it first. The list is public, free names are first come first served, and a good one can be gone in minutes. A listing means the registry said the name was free at the time shown in the Checked column; it is not a reservation, and nothing here puts a hold on a name. To get there earlier, set a rule on your matches and get an e-mail when a name fitting your words is verified free.
Do you show Domain Authority, backlinks or other SEO metrics?
No. Those numbers came from a third-party service we no longer subscribe to, and showing scores we cannot refresh would be worse than showing none. What is left is what we can prove ourselves: the name, its length, whether it is letters only, when we first saw it, when the registry deletes it, and when we last confirmed it free. Judge SEO value with a tool built for it.
