Your Favorites

Your starred names live with your account, so they follow you between devices and we can tell you when one of them comes free.

About Your Favorites

How the favorites list works, and what it does not do.

What does saving a domain to favorites do?

It keeps the name on this page, under your account, with whatever the registry last told us about it. Star any name on a listing such as expired domains and it lands here. Because the list lives with your account and not in the browser, it follows you between devices. Saved names are sorted into three groups: free at the last check, never checked, and taken.

Does saving a domain reserve it for me?

No. A favorite is a bookmark, nothing more. We do not hold, reserve, backorder or register names, and saving one gives you no claim on it — anyone else can register it while it sits on your list. When you want a name, you register it at a registrar through the link on the card. Until that goes through, the name is still free for everyone.

How do I know whether a saved domain is still available?

Every card shows the verdict the registry gave and the time we asked. If that time is old, use Check now on the card: it queries the registry there and then and updates the card with the real answer. Manual checks are capped at 30 in ten minutes per account, because each one is a live registry lookup rather than a cached guess.

Why is a saved name marked as out of date?

Because nobody has checked it for over a week. Saved names are not on an automatic re-check schedule — the robot revisits the names it finds itself, so a favorite is only refreshed if it happens to come round again. Rather than show you a year-old “free” as if it were news, the card says the verdict is stale and offers a re-check.

How many domains can I save?

100 per TLD. The limit is per extension, not per account, so 100 .com names and 100 .dk names are both fine. The sidebar shows how many you have saved under each TLD and lets you switch between them. If you hit the limit, remove a name you no longer want and the slot frees up immediately.

Do I need an account to use favorites?

Yes, and it is free. Favorites are stored against your account, so there is nothing to save until you have one. Everything else on the site — the listings, the WHOIS lookup, the generator — works without signing in. Signing up also gives you match rules, which watch for new names on your behalf.

Will you e-mail me when a favorite becomes free?

No. The favorites page never sends mail; it shows you the last known verdict and lets you re-check on demand. If you want to be told about names as they turn up, set up a match rule instead — that is the part of the site that watches for you and sends an e-mail when something new matches.
